A study of Northern Tunisia, which is quite similar to the States, compares the pre versus post revolution tally for homicides and suicide. According to the aforementioned study, the number of homicides in Northern Tunisia was 1.8 per 100,000 people per year, but that number skyrocketed to 3.12 per 100,000 people per year after the aforementioned revolution. The number of suicides rose by 1.7 times since the revolution. This is a statistically significant change and is concerning not only for the government, it is also concerning for the country’s youth.
