Army Medical Regulations – AGR

AGR personnel are eligible to receive a variety of military decorations. These can include the AGR awards, the AGR certificates and the AGR gold medal. AGR personnel can also earn the AGR emblem or the AGR pin. However, AGR personnel are not eligible to receive traditional guardsmen awards.

The AGR Award is, in general speaking, the most prestigious award. It is presented to AGR members who have rendered the most outstanding service. After twenty years of service, AGR officers are reviewed for retention. It is common for AGR personnel on follow-on tours of anywhere from one to six years. The average AGR member will earn an AGR medal and a AGR award every four years.

The Active Guard/Reserve is a little more complicated than the majority of service members. This program requires a lot coordination between the PCM, TRICARE network provider, and the PCM. In order to qualify for the AGR award, an AGR member must have a passing score on the APFT. In addition, AGR members must have a sufficient clothing allowance for the duration of their AGR service. The mission of the unit will dictate the clothing an AGR member must carry.
