Many emerging technologies are creating a lot of debate and threaten the status quo in international relations. Many of these technologies aren't yet covered by international agreements. In fact, the U.S. withdrawal and subsequent revocation of the INF Treaty might threaten the New START Treaty. Experts fear that the new weapons systems could lead to an end to the current arms control system. Many fear these new technologies could be dangerous to world peace. Others worry they might lead to an increase in international militarization.
Artificial intelligence
The Pentagon is trying AI in new military technology. Many companies are concerned that the military could use this technology. Google pulled out of Project Maven (2018), which was to develop image recognition systems for drones. The controversial project generated heated debate over human right and led many well-known AI researchers to pledge never to work for lethal AI.
Synthetic biology
Synthetic biology is already being used in military application. For example, synthetic biology research has been prioritized among the top ten research priorities of the Army Research Laboratory, overseen by the U.S. Army Futures Command. The Office of Naval Research studies natural systems as potential sources of inspiration to develop new military technologies. The Office investigates the potential use of biology in the design of new materials, sensors, devices, and other technologies. It also plans to develop new power strategies in order to provide service.
Gene editing
Genomics and biotechnology are available for military applications. This includes the design of military genes. This new technology is based on the ability of editing gene structures and orders. The reformed protein structure and gene order is similar to a specially designed lock, with only the developer of the tool holding the key. Gene editing is a potential military application because many human genes can be attacked.

High mobility rocket artillery systems
