The F-18 Super Hornet is often called the "Rhino" and "F/A-18." It's a versatile aircraft capable of performing well in many missions. Super Hornets are capable of carrying out air-to–air or ground missions. They can also be used to perform aerial reconnaissance, close-air support, and air defence missions. It also has conventional air to ground expendables like bombs and missiles.

The Super Hornet is a multi-mission tactical aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight of 66,000 pounds and a range of 3,000 nautical miles. It has a high thrust-to-weight ratio as well as an active electronically scanned radar. The Super Hornet also has an internal 20 mm rotary cannon. It can also carry airborne command pods for various missions. It features a quadruplex digital flight-by-wire system. The Super Hornet's control panels feature night-vision goggles.

The Super Hornet also makes a great trainer aircraft. The F-18 Super Hornet Block III was designed specifically for carrier operations, and it meets STOBAR performance requirements. The Super Hornet's E two-seat variant can carry conventional, air-to air expendables. This includes bombs and air to ground missiles. An AN/APG-79 active electronically scanned radar is also available to the Super Hornet. It has two hard points on each wing, one on each side and two intake points on its center wing. Five 9,000-liter fuel tanks are included.
