Six Barracuda-class submarines are currently owned by the French Navy. The submarines come in two styles. These submarines come in two types: conventionally and nuclear powered. The nuclear submarines are able to remain in the sea for several months without having to return to the surface. The submarines can also be refueled so they can remain at sea many years.
Barracuda submarines are the first French-made nuclear submarines. They are designed to perform the primary missions intelligence, antisubmarine warfare and antisurface combat. They are equipped with four 533 meter lanzatorpedos. You can equip them with Exocet SM39 rockets. They can also carry 20 untethered or torn armaments. They are also able to perform patrols in the high seas.
Steel is used to construct the submarines. They can withstand pressures of up to 200 metres. They can also be refueled by diesel instead of etanol. Submarines are designed to be at sea for at least 220 days each year. You can outfit the submarines with a dry dock shelter, torpedolaunchers and a platform that allows for Unmanned Underwater Vehicles.
The submarines are equipped a TechnicAtome K15150MW nuclear reactor. The reactor allows the submarines to run at very low power for many days consecutively in almost perfect silence. This reactor can also be modified so that it lasts longer than the reactors on the Rubis class submarines. The submarines can be equipped as Swimmer Delivery Vehicles. The PSM3G 26-meter electric vehicle can be used to transport SEALs.
The submarines can also be equipped with a special operation shelter (DDS). The DDS was designed to provide basic command requirements. The DDS weighs in at 40 tons.
The French Navy has commissioned the first of six Barracuda class submarines, the S620 Suffren. The submarine is being made at Cherburgo's Naval Group facility. In 2022, another submarine will be commissioned by the French Navy, the SNAPerle. The submarine will replace the Rubis-class submarines. The first SNA Perle submarine is expected to arrive in March 2022.
French Navy will maintain five Rubis submarines that operate from the Tolon base. These submarines can be found in the south asiatic. The base will cover the entire Mediterranean. A new nuclear attack submarine will also be built in France. This will provide the fleet with an under-ice capability.
The Barracuda submarine class is the largest submarine in the entire world. It is also the most expensive. This submarine can carry MdCN-capable missiles that can bloqueate the time. They can also carry antibuque rockets. They have a 99.5-meter length that can be used for balistic submarines.
French Navy will build a second nuclear submarine called the Duguay-Trouin. The Duguay-Trouin submarine will be added at Cherburgo in 2022.
