Space Surveillance Radar

Space Surveillance involves the detection and tracking of space debris. These objects pose a threat to US military satellites and commercial satellites. Space Fence was designed to detect them and track them. It also helps to prevent collisions within near-Earth orbit. Space Fence uses S-band ground-based radar to track space objects in medium, low, and geosynchronous Earth orbits. The radar can detect objects up to 10 cm in size in space. It can also detect collisions and maneuvers. Space Fence provides timely orbital information to Space Fence about possible threats. This allows Space Fence to prevent future collisions.

Space Surveillance Radar will soon be replaced by an S-band radar. The new system will allow more objects to be tracked and provide better surveillance. Additionally, the new system will be better able to predict space-based collisions. It also provides early warnings of potential threats to commercial and military satellites. It can provide orbital information that is accurate about possible threats, including launches, breakups, or maneuvers. It will also aid the Air Force in keeping track of hundreds and thousands of objects orbiting, helping to prevent collisions between key space-based infrastructure.


Military Tech

The Space Surveillance Network first appeared in 1961. It was originally designed to assist the Defense Department in tracking and analysing thousands of objects in space. Space Fence was first developed by the Air Force. This system allowed the Air Force to track more that 20,000 objects in the space. The new system will track more than one million objects a day, and will provide more accurate surveillance. The Air Force will be able to respond faster to potential threats to commercial and military space systems. The Air Force will now be able track space junk and depleted rocket boosters.


Space Fence is located in Kwajalein Atoll on an island off the Marshall Islands. It is situated near the Ballistic Missile Defense testing site. It is operated by the Air Force's 20th Space Control Squadron. The Air Force shares responsibility for space situational awareness with NASA. The Space Operations Command manages this unit. This is the unit responsible in operating sensors and the Space Surveillance Network.

The Space Fence system is comprised of two ground radars that will track over 100,000 objects a day. It is capable of traveling at speeds up to 17,500 mph and will provide uncued surveillance in low Earth orbit. Space Fence will be used to monitor and track satellites and military satellites in low, medium, or geosynchronous Earth orbits by the Air Force. Space Fence can also provide communication services for military operation.

Space Fence will assist the Air Force in keeping track of commercial and military space systems and will alert it of possible threats. It will also prevent collisions in near Earth space. Space Fence will also allow the Air Force information on objects orbiting, allowing them to determine which objects are present and what events are occurring.
