Artificial Intelligence in the Military

news uav

The military is adapting to new technology as we approach the future. These technologies include Drones (robots), and cloaking equipment. Global powers are working to prepare their military to make use of this advanced technology. Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of these technologies.

Artificial Intelligence

With the recent advancement of AI technologies, some have argued that these systems are as dangerous as nuclear weapons. Proactive regulation is needed to stop the misuse and exploitation AI in the military. Russian robotic systems, for example, are developed according to technical specifications set by the Russian government. But this type of regulation does not replace legal regulation. Unlike technical regulation, legal regulation is mandatory for all subjects.

The existence of legal regulations for AI activities is critical to provide objective information to the AI owners and regulatory authorities. For example, legal regulations must clarify when a system should be stopped. This includes when an enemy raises its white flag, or when a target is designated as a not-combatant. Legal regulations should also define who is allowed to use military-grade AI. Otherwise, these systems could fall into criminal hands.

Robots

Military robots are autonomous, remote-controlled vehicles that can carry out a variety of functions. They are capable of carrying out search and rescue, transport, and attack missions. These robots are a valuable asset to the military and other organizations. In addition, they are an increasingly effective way to monitor and protect troops.

One example of military robotics is the WASP drone, which is a lightweight remote-controlled drone that can fly at low altitudes. The US military currently uses it for surveillance and reconnaissance. Robots can also be used in search and rescue where they can save lives. In order to reduce the time it takes to respond to an emergency, many countries invest heavily in this area.
