Scott Joplin
Scott Joplin is most well-known for his piano rag, "Maple Leaf Rag." The first piano rag to achieve a million sales was the Maple Leaf Rag, which was printed in St. Louis and Sedalia (Missouri). Although the timing of this milestone is not known, it was an important step in the musical career. The rag's cover was based on a tobacco advertising sketch and featured a number of famous vaudeville stars dancing. In the early 1900s, the cover was changed to the more familiar Maple Leaf. However, the dedication was not overdue as the lower left-hand side of the rag featured Joplin's picture.
Chuck Berry
Chuck Berry is a celebrated singer and songwriter. His songs combine narrative country, folk tradition and jump jazz. He was a Billboard chart-topper in the 1950s, and reached the cover of "Biggest Show of Stars” in 1957.

While there aren't many details about his musical thoughts, it is filled full of stories and anecdotes on other musicians. The story of Bud Powell, the genius pianist, is told by the trumpeter. It also tells about Davis's heroin addiction and his five years of seclusion.
Scott Joplin's Ragtime
Scott Joplin is closely linked to the promotion and origin of ragtime music. His Missouri Department of Natural Resources was given his home as a National Historic Landmark in 1976. It is now the state’s first state historic site dedicated specifically to African American heritage. You will find many exhibits about the area's history and local neighborhood at the ragtime location. Visitors can also hear ragtime music on a player piano. The home has gas lights and calcimine painted in Joplin's style.

Scott Joplin, a legend of American jazz music, is Scott Joplin. He was the author of some of the most well-known jazz rags including "The Entertainer" (1903). Joplin's flowing, lyrical genius was demonstrated in The Entertainer. This style was very challenging for piano players of the day. Joplin was also famous for his rags. They were gentle songs named after flowers. Some of his best rags are "The Chrysanthemum Rag" and the "Rose Leaf Rag."
