Metamaterials are used in the J20 Combat Aircraft Cockpit

The J20 has many advantages for the military. Its twin-seat version is ideal for bombing and electronic warfare. It can also run on a domestic engine which reduces dependence on Russian engines. It can be used to monitor, conduct electronic warfare and command wingman drones. The United States Air Force could use this type of aircraft in many different situations.

The Chinese military is developing a stealth fighter known as the J-20, which will be able to fly at a top speed of 2,100 kph. The J-20 has two lateral missile bays, each with four hardpoints and an internal cannon. It also features a chin-mounted infrared/optic search and track sensor and AESA radar.

Metamaterials

CCTV recently aired a series entitled "Great Country’s Great Weapons", about military aircraft developments. It showed the development of an aircraft type that would incorporate metamaterials into its cockpit. J-20 fighter jets and J-16 fighter planes are two examples of aircraft that could benefit from this technology. In addition, the J-15 carrier-based aircraft has already entered the mass production stage.

Lock-on after launch capability

The J-20 is equipped with four PL-15 medium and long-range air to-air missiles (AAMs). The missiles are very similar to the American AIM-120D AMRAAM but are equipped with dual-pulse engines and AESA. They are designed to penetrate enemy fighter cover, and destroy their enablers.

Configuration of air-to-ground weapons

A J-20 combat aircraft flew in China recently to demonstrate a new missile launch mechanism. The new missile-launch mechanism is described as simple and highly effective. J-20 number 022 was equipped with a short range air-to–air missile (also known by the PL-10). The missile could then be detached and deployed outside of the aircraft via an electronic ejection system.

Chengdu J-20 stealth fighter

The Chengdu J-20 stealth fighter cockpit has a long fuselage and is 23 meters long, with a diameter of two meters. It has a frameless canopy and a carved nose. Although it isn't clear exactly what its primary mission will be, it is likely that it will break through enemy fighter cover and knock out its enablers.
